ST. ELIZABETH OF HUNGARY
PARISH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
MAY 15, 2017
Members present: Vicki Sheipe, David Holwager, Charlie Ringwald, Debbie Magiera, Dan Sweet, Darren Klein, Tom Munchel, Wayne Hokey and Janet Sweet. Also attending was Barb Ringwald and Father John Hall. Excused from the meeting was Amy Engle.
Opening prayer was led by Father John.
The meeting was presided over by Dan Sweet.
Darren Klein made a motion with David Holwager seconding that the minutes from the April 17, 2017 meeting be accepted. Motion passed.
Dan Sweet went over the 2017 2018 proposed budget, which is due to the Archdiocese by June 15, 2017. This was approved by the finance committee - Tom Munchel made a motion in finance committee meeting with Vicki Sheipe seconding that this budget be accepted.
Finance Report was given by Darren Klein. The checking account and the stipend account for April was reconciled. Wayne Hokey made a motion with Debbie Magiera seconding. Motion passed.
STATUS OF THE BOYS BATHROOM Dan Sweet reported that the bathroom floor is completed.
NEW SHARP COPIER Barb Ringwald reported that the new copier is here. Vince Miller from the company will be coming to work with Barb next week (May 23 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.)
STATUS OF RECTORY REMODEL David Holwager reported that we still need to get heater in the fireplace, mattress and box springs for the downstairs bedroom. Volunteers will be helping to clean the Rectory. Wayne Hokey stated that there is some wiring that need to done in the bathroom and the phone line needs fixed as someone has nailed through the line. Cheri Ramey is going to take care of the mattress and box springs and figure out what to do with furniture not going to be used. Getting very close to the finished product.
ORGANIST STATUS Dan Sweet reported that Karen Sweet, Diane Buhl and Carol Linginfelter are working on this. Karen has met with Laura Krail. No one has been found as of yet.
LANDSCAPING AROUND STORAGE GARAGE Dan Sweet talked to Kaitlyn Lacy at the High School, they are putting together a list of what we will need for the landscaping. We buy what is needed and they will put in before the end of school.
FATHER LUERMAN SCHOLARSHIP Father John said that each of the recipients will receive $1,000.00
PROVIDE LAPTOP COMPUTER FOR KAITLYN BLANDFORD AND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM AT ST. ELIZABETH Barb Ringwald suggested that we go ahead and get the laptop now. Wayne Hokey said that we could get a 15 ½ screen, etc with a cost of approximately $650.00. Tom Munchel made a motion with Charlie Ringwald seconding to get the laptop. Motion passed.
ADDITIIONAL BUSINESS Barb Ringwald reported that the high school classroom (NW room) be used for the bridal party to get ready. It works much better, as it is larger and has the couches. They would still have access to the makeup room and bathroom.
MASS FOR SHUT INS Dan Sweet suggested that we look into live streaming our Mass for shut-ins.
PARISH COUNCIL MEMBERS Tom Munchel, Dan Sweet and Vicki Sheipe will be going off the council. A nominating committee should be in place by July meeting.
DIRECT RISK MANAGEMENT (Mike Witak and Gallagher Bassett) Barb Ringwald reported that we should have an emergency evacuation plan for religious education and emergency route should be checked monthly. Koorsen comes annually to check our fire extinguishers. Paints, chemicals, gas should all be stored in NFPA containers.
PASTORAL COUNCIL UPDATE Dan sweet reported on this meeting. Vicki Sheipe, Tom Munchel and Dan Sweet attended it was held at the Rectory at St. Rose in Knightstown on Thursday May 11, 2017. Kaitlyn Blandford discussed her plans for religious education for the upcoming year. Kaitlyn and Father John stated that First Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation will be rotated among the three worship sites. Father John said that he would like to do a tri-parish picnic this summer at the St. Rose grounds as there is plenty of room to set up tents and outdoor games and people could have access to the Rectory if it becomes too warm for some.
COHORT UPDATE The cohort meeting was held in the basement of St. Rose in Knightstown at 6:00 on Thursday May 4, 2017. Those from our Parish were Amy Engle, Vicki Sheipe and Father John. All were pleased with how everyone has come together.
A report was due to the Archdiocese on May 15, 2017. Father Jeremy Gries was going to take care of this. The next cohort meeting will be in October. The goals that had been set are being met in a timely manner.
FATHER JOHN NEWS 1.) Father John said that it would be nice to have a statue of St. Joseph or a statue of the Holy Family in the Church. 2.) There is a bus trip being planned to St. Marys of the Woods in the Fall. This will be an all day trip. Knights of Columbus from St. Anne are providing the bus for the trip. The cost is $15.00 per person, this will include lunch and a donation to the Sisters. 3.) Father John stated that our website needs redone. St. Anne just finished their website, which took about three months to do. This was done by Steve Dyer. Father John will talk to him and see if he would be interested in doing ours.

Next Parish Council meeting will be Monday, June 19, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. with Finance Committee meeting at 6:30 p.m.
David Holwager made a motion with Dan Sweet seconding to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed.
