ST. ELIZABETH OF HUNGARY
PARISH COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
October 16, 2017
Members present: David Holwager, Debbie Magiera, Darren Klein, Wayne Hokey, Amy Engle, Janet Sweet, Dan Sweet, Tom Munchel, Teresa Drake and Debbie Weiss. Also attending Father John Hall and Barb Ringwald.
Opening prayer was led by Father John.
The meeting was presided over by Dan Sweet.
Amy Engle questioned the expenses of the Parish Picnic and Dan Sweet said it was for all the parishes and an estimate. David Holwager made a motion with Debbie Weiss seconding that the minutes from the September 18, 2017 meeting be accepted. Motion passed.
Financial Report –
Finance Report was given by Darren Klein. The checking account and the stipend account for September were reconciled. The budget spreadsheet is in a different format with ordinary income and ordinary expenses listed. Tom Munchel made a motion to accept the Finance Report with David Holwager seconding. Motion passed.
· United Catholic Appeal goal is $19,580 was $20,912
· Maintenance Issues -
Rectory Dining Room Chairs – David Holwager unable to find a vendor to repair and refinish chairs. Debbie Weiss will contact Charlie Weiss and see if he could repair and refinish the chairs.
Bats – Wayne Hokey can purchase an electronic device to control bats.
Parish Grounds – David Holwager reported the trees have been removed and the maple tree has been trimmed. Kaitlyn Lacey will proceed with landscaping around the pole barn.
Bell Tower – Mike Beard will look for any cracks in the tower.
Exterior Doors – David Holwager suggested tabling the replacement of the kitchen door until next spring.
Door open/closure quotes presented by Dan Sweet, Catron Glass of $9,620 and Steve Parker of around $20,000. Discussion was held and location recommendation of north center door, south center door and east church door. Amy Engle made a motion to investigate ADA compliance before proceeding with Debbie Weiss seconding. Motion passed.
· Security system issues - need replacement in Church and Rectory
Koorsen Security System Proposal and second quote from Communications Electronics, Inc. were presented. The security equipment is obsolete and outdated. After discussion of needs for church, center and rectory, Wayne Hokey will check on both alarms and cameras with three key pads.
· Other Old Business – Debbie Mageria asked if we could purchase more than 24 folding chairs per year. Dan Sweet will check with Rosa’s Office as they may have reconditioned chairs.
· New Maintenance issue - lawn weed treatment -
Wayne Hokey will furnish Barb Ringwald with contact information from Frame’s Lawn Care. True Green mentioned as well for cost of spraying lawn now.
David Holwager said rose bushes need to be replaced. His suggestion was to plant hostas and ornamental grass for easy maintenance. Amy Engle will contact Kaitlyn Lacey for quote on perennials.
· Father John –
Father spoke of the use of the rectory by Catholic Charities Counseling Service. They will work with doctor offices and this is open to the community.
Father asked on thoughts on the Archbishop visit and remarks were “awesome, good turnout”. 174 attended Saturday Mass. Spoke of having to merge the 2 parishes and linking those two with St. Elizabeth working together, the Archbishop said “good spirit”. Leftover cookies from the reception were donated to the prison. Amy Engle will have pictures put in the paper.

Ø November 11 & 12 - UCA Intention Weekend - pick up intention cards and contribution envelopes in the parish Center.
Ø November 12 - Senior Citizen Thanksgiving Dinner & Prayer Service
Ø November 18 & 19 - Campaign for Human Development
Ø November 22 – Mass at 5:30 at St. Elizabeth, Mass at 7:00 at St. Rose
Ø November 23 – Mass at 9:00 at St. Anne
A special meeting is scheduled on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 6:30 for those who can attend to discuss the alarm system and quotes.
Next Parish Council meeting will be Monday, November 27, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. with Finance Committee meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Tom Munchel made a motion with David Holwager seconding to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed.
